DAUW is a new series of meditation concerts where sound, breath and presence come together.
Each concert begins with a guided meditation led by Zen teacher Anne Peters.
From a place of stillness, the live concert unfolds, filled with deep resonance, subtle energy and rhythmic mastery.
Performed by a percussionist of TROMP Percussion, the live concert guides you through a sound experience that is both meditative and musically immersive. From singing bowls to marimba, from gongs to vibraphone; like dew, the sounds rest gently over the space, inviting stillness and a rediscovery of listening.
No experience with meditation or music is required, everyone is welcome.
Afterwards, there is time for connection: to share impressions, reflect, or remain together in quiet presence.
Played by Keith Ng, 2nd prize winner of TROMP 2022, this meditation concert will feature “Dust” by British Composer Rebecca Saunders (1967 - ), a percussion setup piece written in 2018. “Dust” is a ritual of sound, creating a contemplative space where time pauses and air withholds. She used more than 30 different instruments and mallets, exploring sounds that can take audience into an other-wordly journey that is felt both aurally and physically: throbbing pulsation of microtonal aluminium bar swinging back and forth, deep beating of the bass drum, quiet static sound of scraping ceramic tiles… The music resonates through the body and the space, shaping a collective experience of deep listening, a perfect backdrop for listeners to rest on the fragile yet profound presence of sound itself.
